Farm News
How I wish I could report something new this week, but the rain continues to be the dominant force on the farm.
We are staying out of the fields accept to harvest, trying to minimize soil compaction. Adorned in muck boots and rain gear we try to stay as dry as possible as we slug through the fields. Running water was actually present in some areas of the farm. Monday morning was a scene I hadn’t seen before on the farm.
They say celery likes it wet, but I don’t think that’s what they had in mind!
Over the weekend we had to trash a bunch of flats that were too far gone, but we quickly filled the greenhouse back up with freshly seeded flats. All is not lost! We are optimistic that this wet period will not define the season! (But still hope it doesn’t rain again this week!)
