SAVE THE DATE!!!!!!!!!
Our CSA member potluck will be Sunday October 2 from 4 to 7. We ask that members bring a dish to share for this harvest celebration. We will provide beverages and a main dish. Last year we had wonderful weather and a great turn out. We ate lots of delicious food, socialized, and toured the farm. We hope for a big turn out again this year so mark your calendars!
Farm News
While the heat continues to linger and the box screams summer with basil, tomatoes, watermelon and sweet corn, there are signs of fall on the farm as well as all around. Kids are back in school, insects that I typically see in fall have made appearances, and the first of the fall brassicas, kale, is in the box. In between our busy harvest days, we are prepping for fall. We planted our last round of fall transplants this week and spent a good amount of time weeding 3 beds of fall carrots. We took down the hoophouse tomatoes as we need the space to extend our lettuce season into late fall. Ben is getting fields ready for fall as well. Old crops are mowed down, fields are disced, and then the fields are seeded to cover crops. It feels really good to be transitioning to fall–now if only the weather would do the same, your farmers would be happy campers!
