Farm News: Meet the Crew Edition
This year we are so fortunate to have all returning members to our farm crew! Nearly everyone has helped at least part of a season with most having worked a couple seasons! Some work part time and some full time, and together we plant, care for, and harvest the bounty! In addition to enjoying farm work ( I am assuming they do since they’ve come back for more!) they are also a very talented and interesting lot!
Nic is back for his third season. He just graduated from high school in May and is interested in becoming a paramedic. He just got his license to drive firetrucks and will take a course to be a firefighter and EMT in the fall.
Charity stepped away from the farm last year after 3 seasons and so I was so excited when she expressed interest in returning this season! She excels at everything on the farm and became somewhat of a legend in her year off! Last fall she got married and she and her husband are expecting their first child in a couple months!!
Jewell is Charity’s younger sister who is coming back for year 3 on the farm. She mostly packed CSA shares the past couple years but this year I am having her do more field work and harvesting, as another older sister, Ellie, is joining us for the first time and will be packing the boxes.
Lindsey answered our call last August when we needed help finishing out the year and this season she’ll experience the farm starting in the spring. She went to CTC for graphic design, after which she completed a 2 year program at Sinclair in graphic design. Last year she started a web design program at Sinclair and has one more class to take in the fall to compete that certification.
Anna is our performance artist. When she isn’t on the farm she is a busy voice major student at Wright State. She is also creating awesome original music which you can find at @annahedgesmusic
Audrey has been helping us grow veggies since 2016! She does most of the tractor work- driving while we plant, tilling beds, mowing, cultivating, spreading fertilizer, laying plastic beds, etc. In addition to being an accomplished farmer, she is an accomplished artist and mom to several birds, including her new rescue Starling (which had to come to the farm for a few weeks to get fed every couple of hours!) . For pictures of her art and her Starling check out her instagram @crowcrisp
A few important members not pictured are Ellie and Deb who pack the CSA vegetables, Evan and Isla, our kids who help when called upon (…sometimes paid sometimes not!), Ian who has delivered our CSA boxes for several years now, and Vicci, Ben’s mom, who is available to help bag and deliver vegetables, and watch the kids or take them places they need to be when we are too busy! She is our #1 volunteer!
Just recently everyone has started up and we have been getting so much done now that most days we are a team of at least 6!
Recipes
Tuna and White Bean Lettuce Wraps (substitute dill for the parsley)
Crustless Dill and Spinach Quiche
Sautéed Spigarello with garlic (I would throw this on top of a pizza and use garlic scapes!)
Coming Up Next Week (our best guess….) Swiss Chard, Scallions, Head Lettuce, Beets, Salad Mix, Kohlrabi, Broccoli, Cilantro

Looks like you have an amazing team. This is my second year as a CSA customer and I am super excited for this season. I thank each and every one of you for all your hard work. It really means alot to me as someone who wants good nutritious food the way God intended. This program has made me try foods and recipes I would have never tried before. You do a fantastic job at running this program. With that said, I can’t wait till Thursday to pick up my first box of the season. Yay!!!
