CSA Week 23

This Week’s Harvest

Harvesting Brussels sprouts

Farm News

We had a great time hosting our CSA members for the potluck. Everyone made such delicious dishes. One of the reasons we got into farming was our interest in good food. I’ve always been a good eater- often winning out over my dad and siblings if there was only seconds for one more, getting to eat exotic food with my mom cause no one else wanted to. I meet Ben in Boston and some of our first dates involved meeting up at Central Square Market after work, picking out vegetables and heading back to Ben’s tiny apartment to cook up feasts from his Moosewood Vegetarian Cookbook that he grabbed from someone’s trash pile when he lived in New York City. When deciding what to make once he said “things I haven’t had in awhile are Eggplant Almond Enchiladas, Polenta Pizza, and Borscht” to which I replied “things I have never had are Eggplant Almond Enchiladas, Polenta Pizza and Borscht”.  Eventually we made all the dishes and then some! We love all vegetables and potlucks are one of our favorite ways to eat. Chances are you will eat something new and make cooking discoveries you can bring back home.  I remember a few CSA potlucks back a CSA member got advice on how to cook braising greens from another CSA member and now every time we have them at market she makes the trip to get them!

Potluck Sunset

We hope that you have enjoyed all the produce and variety this season, made some new keeper recipes, discovered you actually like a vegetable you thought you didn’t, and at least once declared “this is the best [insert veggie here] I have ever had!” If so, we have done our jobs! Thanks for trusting us with part of your grocery budget!
