We started digging potatoes – 4 beds down, 10 to go! This popular crop will start popping up here and there in the 2nd half of the CSA season. We use a potato digger that digs into to the ground, lifts the potatoes onto a belt and allows them to ride the belt while the dirt falls through the chain
This is the original mother potato that the plants grow from. We get organic seed potatoes and cut them into smaller pieces with a few eyes each and plant in April
The winter squash field is growing nicely and the squash are starting to size up. Next the color will start to deepen while the plants actually die back and that is when we’ll harvest- sometime next month!
The fall crops need a lot of weeding attention- especially after the wet spell we just had.
Fall brassicas all cleaned up. We missed a few cultivations when it was too wet but now we are getting caught up on weeding!
Butterfly squared. This Hackberry Butterfly landed on Lindsey during our tomato harvest and stayed on her arm the whole truck ride in and while we were unloading!
